Our summary

Invoices often contain several dates and amounts with different meanings. This recipe separates finding possible values from deciding which one is the total, invoice number, issue date, or payment deadline. Jev chooses among supplied options rather than writing a new value.

Pattern-matching software finds and tidies candidate values while preserving nearby words. Each field gets its own choice question, including an option for no suitable value. A separate yes-or-no question checks whether the document is an invoice or receipt rather than a quote.

An answer can only use candidates the earlier software found, so missed or incorrectly converted values remain a problem. Scans need text extraction before this process. The author's small multilingual sample shows the method, but it does not establish reliable extraction across every invoice layout.

Key takeaways

  1. Test the candidate finder separately from the AI's choices.
  2. State whether a date means issue, service period, or payment deadline.
  3. Provide an option for cases where none of the candidates fits.

Invoice text and possible values with nearby words are sent to Jev. Review whether financial and supplier details may be shared before using real documents.
