An experimental code generator that compiles Protocol Buffer schemas into typed Go, TypeScript, and Python clients for Jev-compatible decision backends.
Created by Buf as an experiment, protoc-gen-jev maps Protobuf field options directly to structured AI decision primitives like categories, numeric rubrics, and calibrated probabilities. Instead of parsing arbitrary text or untyped JSON, the plugin generates strongly typed clients that interact with engines like TypeSafe's hosted API, local Laya instances, or Cloudflare's Clef models over the standard wire protocol. Generated schemas require pairing identical generator and runtime releases, and structured data types do not ensure that underlying model judgments are semantically accurate.
How you can use it
Ask a developer to define your app’s questions, allowed answers and rating levels in a shared Protobuf schema. Buf then generates matching client code for Go, TypeScript or Python, reducing repeated hand-written parsing. Keep generator and supporting libraries on matching releases, and still test whether the model’s well-formed answers are right.
