Captures, ko, suicide, passing, and scoring are enforced by the browser game.
For your own board game, try separating the rules from the AI opponent. A developer can adapt this Go demo so code checks legal moves and an outside AI chooses where to play. Try the built-in opponent first. Playing against Jev needs a setup on your computer; its hosted page alone cannot connect to Jev.
Jev, the AI opponent, plays like a beginner. The maker reports three losses against the simple opponent. Use this as a learning experiment, not as a way to get expert Go play.
