AI chess battle

Play chess against Jev in the browser with Stockfish analysing locally; each turn is one Choice over the legal moves, so an illegal answer is impossible.

What it does

A position has at most 218 legal moves and a Choice takes up to 255 options, which is what makes the guarantee hold. The panel shows the three moves Jev weighed and their probabilities.

How you can use it

A developer can study this project to learn how to strictly limit AI choices. The app sends an outside AI service called Jev every legal chess move for a turn. Chess has at most 218 possible moves. These easily fit inside the 255 allowed choices, guaranteeing the AI never makes an illegal play.

A standard chess program runs inside the web browser to grade strategy. It evaluates every turn to see if a legal move was actually a poor strategic choice. Connecting the AI requires an API key. This is a unique code generated by a service to link the software to it.

Maker-reported (not independently measured by JevMade): A chess position has at most 218 legal moves and a Choice accepts up to 255 options, so a single request always fits · A typical reply takes about 300 ms · Jev playing both sides costs about $0.00005 per move at 300 to 400 ms each: a 20-move game for $0.0009
