You can look at this project to see how an artificial intelligence can play an online fantasy game. Before writing any code, plan which actions matter most for staying alive, such as when to heal or attack. A developer can run mock dragon fights in a text window to test those rules without loading game graphics.
Your developer will need an access key that connects the software to the AI decision service. In real matches, the game sends health, location, and visible monsters four times each second. The AI then picks moves from preset lists, so your game character can only react using those fixed choices.
