The board simulation stays deterministic, and Jev sees at most five candidates with holes, height, bumpiness, line clears, and next-piece outlook.
To use this idea in a fast puzzle game, first list board layouts you want to avoid, like deep holes or bumpy stacks. Your developer can write simple rules that find legal moves and narrow them to the five safest spots.
Your game can then ask Jev to pick the best move from those five choices. If an answer takes too long before the piece falls, your game simply plays its own favorite safe spot instead.
