What it does
Jev runs server-side only, with six personalities across three difficulties. When it times out, a plainly-labelled local move steps in. The side panel puts Jev's confidence and shortlist next to Stockfish's evaluation of the same position.
How you can use it
Start by sketching distinct play styles for your game characters, such as aggressive or cautious. A developer can borrow this project's hybrid approach: use a traditional chess program to find the best moves, then let an AI choose the one that matches the character's style.
Connecting to the real AI requires an access key from TypeSafe. If you do not have a key, your developer can set up the app to use a pretend mock player instead. During real matches, the board also picks an ordinary local move whenever the AI takes too long to answer.
