Chris Wijnia created Jevvie, a small website assistant that uses an artificial intelligence model to match visitor requests with specific actions the website can perform.
The project includes a client that sends requests to a primary gateway and falls back to a direct connection if needed. It checks the answers to ensure they match the expected format and reports the estimated cost. The visual assistant uses a 3D character that reacts to the user and only animates when moving to save processing power.
How you can use it
You can use this project to add an interactive character to your own website. The assistant reads what a visitor types and decides which of your predefined website actions best matches their request, such as opening a specific page or copying a link.
Provide the allowed actions and any tips the assistant should offer. The code sends visitor text to an external model and checks the returned decision. Only the dotted trail is unavailable in browsers without WebGPU; this does not mean the whole character disappears. Requests can fail if both the primary gateway and direct fallback are unavailable.
